Supporting local shops is so important in today’s climate as is helps us here in NI to develop hugely as a creative city and to be taken more seriously in the fashion world. We in Northern Ireland are becoming more susceptible to being different, creative and arty, an idea that would not have been so popular 10 years ago.  Today we embrace different styles and enjoy unique outlooks and this is because of the ever growing support of the art and fashion industry here. There are a few leaders paving the way in supporting local artists to express their creativity and I would certainly encourage everyone to support these local businesses through their work shops or taking your custom to them rather than the high-street giants.
Studio Souk
Studio Souk is a menagerie of gorgeous fashion and interiors to suit an eclectic range of style. Located on Castle Lane, you can buy everything from my dresses to beard oil and each time you visit you stumble across another artist’s work or quirky homey accessories.  I have been selling my garments for a good few months now and the team is so friendly and approachable if you have any queries or need to try on any items. If you are into vintage clothes then you should check out a really cool vintage brand “Kloth” when you’re in there.
Una Rodden couture
Una Rodden is a fashion designer located on Upper Arthur Street. Una has been designing for over 10 years in her Belfast shop and has another shop in Donegal. Una sells her own creations and off the rail garments that she regularly updates to and from her visits to Paris for new fabrics and outfits. Amongst these Parisian finds you can discover some local artists’ creations such as myself, Couture by Katie Wilson, Katie Brown and Catherine B.
Una is known for her attention to detail and is the go to woman for high profile events, evening events or weddings as she uses such beautiful fabrics with luxurious beading, detail and quality.

Grainne Maher Fashion Vault
Grainne Maher is a milliner with her shop located in Spires Mall.  Grainne has been making quirky hats and head pieces for several years and she is the woman to visit if you are planning a day to the races or a special event.
Grainne’s shop is filled with Irish designers skilled in knitwear, millinery, fashion, print and jewellery making.  Very popular with tourists as they can always find a really special gift here. I sell some of my quirky pieces here too, leather tops and belts that can be styled over things you may already have in your own wardrobe.  You can buy the very talented Derek Lawlor hand knitted bespoke pieces here as well and they are simply stunning.

Style Solutions
Ok not exactly local but since I retail here I couldn’t leave it out. Pearl at Style Solutions has a wealth of gorgeous one off designer pieces and provides a personal styling service for those who need a little help. Located at Ballymena Business Park, it’s perfect for re vamping your wardrobe with some key pieces and Pearl is great at putting together outfits to suit each individual’s needs.

Happy shopping! C x
